Vacqueyras rouge 2018 – d’Ouréa

Domaine d'Ouréa is still a very young winery. The first vintage was only produced in 2011. The young winemaker Adrien Roustan finished his studies in 2010 and harvested his first vintage in his grandfather's vineyards in 2010. He sold the entire vintage to a wholesaler. His grandfather's vineyards are his great treasure. They are top terroir in the municipalities of Vacqueyras and Gigondas. Both municipalities lie at the foot of the Dentelles du Montmirail, a bizarre limestone formation reminiscent of crochet hooks. Vacqueyras lies a little further into the plain. The soils have a higher proportion of gravel and are reminiscent of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines produced here tend to be mineral and elegant, while the higher limestone terraces of Gigondas produce powerful, voluminous and complex red wines.
