Color
Light straw yellow with bright reflections.
Nose
The nose of the 2013 Clos Windsbuhl Riesling by Zind Humbrecht is still closed at first, so put it in the carafe, preferably upside down with a lot of bubbling. Then notes of yellow apples, small quinces and some beeswax candles emerge, all underpinned by the subtle scent of wet stones after a short warm summer rain.
Mouth
On the palate, the 2013 presents itself as fresh as it has been for a long time. The fresh acidity typical of the vintage balances the 8 grams of residual sugar in the most elegant way and virtually whips the wine across the palate of the inclined taster. Vibrant, wiry and with verve, the acidity sail is wide and allows for a refreshing pleasure today, but also potential for many more years of bottle ageing.
