Color:
A radiant golden yellow greets the eye, gently interspersed with dainty green sparks.
Nose:
The 2014 Riesling Brand is a real challenge at the beginning, shrouding itself in mystery in its young nature, requiring time and space to unfold its true essence. After a respectful waiting period, however, the notes of yellow fruits are released, bringing back memories of juicy apricots, candied lemon peel, sweet grapefruit, dried flowers and field hay. This olfactory experience is underpinned by ethereal nuances of ginger and lemon balm. The variety of aromas is securely held by an impressive minerality.
Palate:
In the mouth, the 2014 Riesling Brand, a true rollercoaster ride of flavours sweet, salty and sour, unites on the tongue in a pleasant stormy dance. At the current young stage, the notes of citrus fruits dominate, unleashing tingling freshness with every sip. This powerful wine requires patient ageing in the cellar, even though it is already tantalisingly tasty.
Recommendation:
Those who want to taste the wine despite its youth should give it enough room to breathe by decanting it over several hours and serving it in a large glass. A few days of opening will bring out its refined qualities even more.
Alternative food accompaniments: carrot and pumpkin gnocchi with caramelised apples, an autumnal pumpkin tart and turbot accompanied by a beurre blanc and tender new potatoes.
