The Pranzegg winery is named after the estate where Martin Gojer has been producing his wines since 2009 as a reflection of their origin, the vintage and the family's way of life. Above the Bolzano valley basin, Gojer's vineyards are farmed biodynamically by hand, and in the cellar, too, less is more Long fermentation and long maturation periods on the full lees with the addition of only small amounts of sulphur characterise the wines, which are always bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The vines for this 100% Lagrein Rose grow at the foot of the Ritten. Short-stemmed Lagrein with low yields, thicker skins and higher fruitiness were harvested in two passes An early harvest pass to preserve the crispness and a fully ripe harvest pass for the juicy fruit. One lot was pressed directly, the other lot spent two hours on the skins. The majority was aged in concrete, a small portion in wood, all without temperature control as always. The idea is that of a juicy fruity alpine cerasuolo. Chapeau!
Color
Transparent garnet red with a slightly rusty edge.
Nose
Wildly spicy, the 2021 Demian Rosato from Martin Gojers Pranzegg smells of blackberries, blackberry leaves and redcurrant leaves. The wine alternates between fruit and spice, dried cherry and bay leaves, orange peel and pencil point. The nose is clear with silky transparency and shimmering fruit, yet weightless and full of vibration.
Mouth
Juicy, clear and transparent, the Demian is also very dry on the palate, with fruit and structure. An adult rose, which should not be confused with joyless adolescence. The fruit shows itself in the extract, reduced to the essential, yet always fine with enormous depth in the retronasal area. It nestles up against the fine tannins, which give it length and the characteristic grip that lets you bring the glass to your lips again and again until the bottle is empty - fire brigade!
