Color
In rich violet with an opaque core, the wine appears clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Subtle and at the same time beautifully idiosyncratic, the nose of this Syrah from David Reynaud is initially reserved. Concentrated, a floral arrangement is lovingly put together. Peonies, lilacs, cornflowers and some spruce and pine branches are not only beautiful to look at, but also beguiling in their scent. This is complemented by nutmeg, subtle musk and a hint of cinnamon stick.
Palate
If he is an extremely attractive man, the emperor's new clothes certainly have their appeal.
Meaning
This delightfully independent interpretation of Crozes Hermitage shows its face and essence self-confidently exposed. Due to the consequent maturation of the Syrah in concrete and the conscious renunciation of wooden barrels, its flavour concentrates puristically on the character of the grape and the meagre loamy limestone soils of its origin.
Silky tannin and its gently taut acidic arc make this wine a gustatory treat of rock'n'roll at room volume.
