The Klur family has been producing wine in Katzenthal, Alsace, since the 17th century. The farm decided to downsize in 2007 and since then has focused on biodynamic cultivation. Today, Clemt Klur is the smallest certified Demeter winery in Alsace.

The Cremant d'Alsace Sans Soufre is a cuvée of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. Grown at the foot of the commune of Katzenthal on marl and limestone soils, the grapes are harvested by hand and then gently pneumatically pressed, stem and all, for six hours. The wine is neither chaptalised nor acidified, and fermented spontaneously with its own yeasts in temperature-controlled vats. The base wine then matures in barrels on the fine yeast until it is bottled. The wine remains on the lees for at least 12 months before it is disgorged. No sulphur is added either during ageing or after disgorgement. The natural sulphur is 7mg.

Color

Bright straw yellow with fine perlage.

Nose

The nose of the LCNS20 is clearly marked by the ageing process and reminds one of fresh yeast plait on the way home at half past three in the morning. In addition, there are some toasted almonds, salty notes of oyster shells as well as stewed apple and some candy floss.

Mouth

On the nose, it opens with a fine bubbly mousseux and extract-rich yellow fruit reminiscent of waxy ripe yellow apples. Then the aromas of the nose are reflected, roasted almond, some yeast plait including glaze and salty notes fill the palate. Juicy, yeasty and joyful, one glass after the other fills up.
