Wine information

La handles comes from a vineyard of the same name located 300 meters above sea level and not far from Domaine de Villeneuve. The vines are about 50 years old and produce a low but concentrated yield of less than 25hl/ha. The cuvée is divided into 60 % Grenache, and 20 % each Syrah and Mourvèdre, which are spontaneously fermented and aged in large wood.

Nose

The 2019 La Grips opens with a soft, warm and intense aroma of ripe and cooked plums, cranberry jam and blackberries. The fruit is accompanied by notes reminiscent of warm forest floor, autumn leaves, fresh sweet yeast plait, orange zest and a little freshly wet wood.

Palate

On the palate the Côtes du Rhône On the one hand silky soft and warm, on the other hand quite grippy and structured with fine tannin, a lively acidity and a cool and lively minerality. The dark fruit is underpinned by a portion of liquorice, so typical for Grenache, and a hint of Syrah violets. Power and juiciness, warmth and freshness, fine bitter notes and dark juiciness meet in a wonderfully balanced rendezvous.
