Color
In rich purple with violet rim and opaque core, the wine appears clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Starry, but dark is the night....
Matthieu Barret's 2016 Tupin's is reminiscent of wintertime in the most positive sense. A scent of port figs and rum raisins. The aromas from Christmas baking, such as nutmeg and roasted sweet chestnuts, as well as clove, allspice and juniper are in the air. And in the next room, the fireplace still smoulders after in the parlour where grandpa smoked a pipe earlier....
Palate
Like the nose, like the palate.
Warming like a woolen scarf, this Côte-Rôtie wraps itself around the neck. Much expressiveness, little heaviness. Tannins that are almost supple, but by no means soft, ensure a firm footing and give the dark berry fruit the necessary support. Compact, tightly woven and with perfectly balanced extraction, an expressive, yet not intrusive wine of the world.
