One gets the feeling of diving into black velvet with the 2015 Côte Rotie "Coteaux de Tupin" - velvety and dense tannins, lots of fruit sweetness on the tongue, paired with fresh acidity and striking stony minerality. The 2015 Côte Rotie "Coteaux de Tupin" conveys a lot of darkness on the nose Tar, black pepper, bitter chocolate and charcoal make the start.

Info

The wine consists of 100 % Serine. The grape variety can hardly be found in an ampelographic handbook. It was considered almost extinct, but it is closely related to the Syrah and the Dureza. Stephan found it in the vineyard he was able to acquire in Tupin in 1991, whose oldest plantings date back to 1893. The 0.5 hectares from which the Coteaux de Tupin originates were partly planted in 1941, partly planted in 1993 with in selection massale propagated vines. The vines stand in steep slope on Leuco gneiss. The yield was 15 hl / ha, cultivated organically since 1991. In the cellar there is a cool pre-fermentation for 24 hours, then there is a cool macération carbonique with styles and stems. Finally, the wine is aged in barrels made of Allier oak. At Stephan's, there is neither fining nor filtering. The addition of sulphur is minimal.

Color

Sparkling purple, black at the core, almost dense in colour to the rim.

Nose

The 2015 Côte Rotie "Coteaux de Tupin" conveys a lot of darkness on the nose Tar, black pepper, bitter chocolate and charcoal make the start. Only with plenty of oxygen do dark blackberries, black currants, dark cherries and sloe join in. Notes of truffle and sal ammoniac reinforce its beguiling fragrance.

Palate

You get the feeling of diving into black velvet with the 2015 Côte Rotie "Coteaux de Tupin" - velvety and dense tannins, lots of fruit sweetness on the tongue, paired with fresh acidity and striking stony minerality. A wine, filled without sulphur, which could not be more original. He is only at the beginning of his development and has still much to store!
