Wine information
The Chardonnay comes to 80 % from the Grand Cru vineyard Corton-Bressandes, to 15 % from Corton Chaumes and to 5 % from Corton Renardes. Thus, this Chardonnay comes from sites that were actually reserved for Pinot noir. These sites are characterized by bajocium and Oxford limestone with pebbles, clay and a high iron content.
Color
golden yellow
Nose
The year 2015 has ensured that even the Grand Crus are open and inviting from the start. The Corton shows its terroir from the beginning. The balance of maturity and coolness, brilliant minerality and juicy fruit can not escape. A little flint as well as smoky and slightly roasted nuances form the start, then the fine wood development asserts itself, which donates a little vanilla and oak. But the multi-layered fruit of yellow pears and apples, lemons, quinces, nectarines and pineapple dominate. All yellow? No, there's still something of lime and green apple peel, mint and more herbs. Wonderful.
Mouth
The open, inviting and at the same time complex character of the Corton continues on the palate. What a power in the Cordon is well known. Here it becomes obvious and runs through the whole yellow stone fruit. Finest acid attacks and a striking tannin provide additional dimensions. The wine turns up over days, becomes more and more powerful and at the same time more and more precise as well as elegant. Great stuff!
