This wine is a testament to 100 % of pure Tinta de Toro, expressed through the vigorously grown bush vines planted in the early 21st century, 2000 and 2004 to be precise.
This drop owes its unique complexity to a balanced alternation method - 50 % of the ageing time is spent in tanks, accompanied by batonnage and micro-oxygenation, while the other 50 % is aged in American oak barrels.
In the glass, it is a deep violet red, almost black in the centre, with a slight lightening at the rim.
The 2019 "Corral de Campanas" greets the senses with an intense aroma of dark cherries, blackcurrant, sloe and a variety of Mediterranean herbs. Rosemary, thyme, juniper berries and eucalyptus are clearly perceptible. The hint of liquid liquorice and black slate more than complement its aromatic diversity.
On the palate, it impresses as a powerful wine, characterised by an abundance of fruit aromas, charming sweet tones and striking spiciness. It encircles the senses with its ripe, grippy tannin structure. Its pronounced minerality and fresh acidity give it character and finesse. An incredibly substantial wine that is the perfect companion for cosy evenings by the fireplace or at the barbecue - simplicity and generosity in the same breath.
Food recommendations: Try this red wine with steamed aubergines with a hint of thyme and goat's cheese au gratin, delicious lamb chops with homemade herb butter and crunchy green beans, or spare ribs with an unexpected hint of liquorice jus, served with beetroot, red wine onions and crispy fried bacon.
