Color
Velvety dark cherry red, violet reflections
Nose
Loud and sublime. But at the same time shy and unobtrusive. Of course, the 2019 Clos Erasmus shows a multitude of aromas and subtleties in its youth, but in a very charming and restrained way. Licorice, sage, mint and eucalyptus provide ample ethereal components. Dark chocolate, but also tar and rubber abrasion provide gloomy accents. Blackberry, cassis, cherry and plum slowly take shape in the glass. There is also a slight smokiness and flintiness. Warm leather and black pepper come to the fore at this point. Black olive, a little thyme and earthy beetroot round it off.
Palate
On the palate, all the expectations gained result in a jet of aromas. It is enormously characterised by juiciness. In other words, an astonishing amount of drinkability for the analysis values at hand. 2019 Clos Erasmus appears in "little black" - in other words, a timeless fashion classic. Silky, charming and exciting. Full of finesse and elegance. The fruit and the spice set dark, Mediterranean accents, but in just the right dosage and in the right place. The fruit literally bundles together to then find its counterpart in the intense, cool minerality.
