Wine information
The Clos de la Dioterie is the domaine's most famous vineyard. It was already mentioned in the Middle Ages, when it still had a complete enclosure, and it is located not far from the Vienne directly at the winery. The rather flat vineyard is characterised by clay in the topsoil and lime and mica in the subsoil. The vines are 90 to 100 years old. The Cabernet Franc receives a cool pre-fermentation at 10 °C for ten days. The maceration in wooden vats lasts about four weeks at temperatures of 21 °C at the most. As soon as the alcoholic fermentation is complete, the blending of the pre-fermentation wines and the best pressed wines for the malolactic fermentation takes place. The French oak barrels are partially renewed each year, so that about one fifth of the barrels are new and one to four years old. The vintages then mature for 15 to 16 months in wood, another six months in tank for harmonisation, and are then bottled.

Nose
The 2019 presents itself deep and full Clos de la Dioterie with a Cabernet Franc nose like something out of a picture book. Only a wine from an excellent vintage can be so elegant and yet down-to-earth, so fine and yet tart. There is discreet pyrazine, lots of chalk and limestone, plus the fruit of blackberries, barberries, cranberries and some currant with stalks. The red fruit is underlaid with paprika, tomato and fine wood.
Palate
The palate shows all the power combined with a lot of elegance. The tannin seems rounder than in the Les Varennes, but is still bloody young and above all shows the potential of the wine. The fruit here is - as usual with Joguet - clear and transparent, the Chinon dense, silky and already very perfect.
