Info about the wine
The grapes for this wine grow, as the name suggests, on the grey slate in the steep slopes of Pünderich, predominantly in somewhat higher-lying plots. The grapes are usually harvested in mid-October at around 85-90° Oechsle. Fermented spontaneously in old Fuder barrels.
Color
Strong, sparkling golden yellow.
Nose
The nose of the 2015 Riesling "vom grauen Schiefer" late release impresses with aromas of baked apple, orange zest, angelica, anise and a hint of tree bark. Fresh and citrus fruit notes are also present, as well as ethereal hints of sage and mint. Exciting and impressive attack, between incipient maturity and youthful vitality.
Palate
On the tongue, it shines with lively freshness, the acidity shows itself present and youthful, the salivation is directly stimulated beautifully. This fresh impression is clearly underpinned by the cool and equally animating notes of the grey slate. Concise spiciness and pure juiciness flood the palate. It is always a pleasure when Clemens lets us share such beautifully matured wines - thank you!
