Info about the wine
It is a batch from the Marienburg vineyard of 500 l, which had stopped fermentation on its own. Due to the high fructose content of the grapes, the wild yeasts were probably somewhat overwhelmed.
Since this wine did not match any other filling as a blending partner, it was filled separately. As a young wine, Rita and Clemens found it extremely exciting, so they put the box in the very back of the warehouse and waited for it to mature in the bottle accordingly. "Again and again, we find that our Rieslings, if they remain in the semi-dry or off-dry range, develop into quite great companions for spicy dishes after eight to ten years. Even low acidity, as we had in 2011, but also in vintages like 2003 or 2005, is no problem here."
Color
Rich golden yellow.
Nose
The 2011 Marienburg Riesling Spätlese Großes Lage Fass 67 late release impresses with exotic splendour and deep minerality on the nose. Lime, ripe mango, passion fruit, orange marmalade, coriander, candied ginger and wild mint, all on ice, that's how fresh it comes across. Notes of slate and flint as well as fine malty notes and a hint of dried flowers.
Palate
On the palate, it is fresh and stimulating with a distinct and multi-faceted sweetness. As if you had bitten into fresh pineapple, and the juice runs down the corners of your mouth, apricot, honey and a fine tart phenolic are added, which additionally underlines its stimulating structure and fine spiciness. A real wow-wine with class, clearly marked by the handwriting of the master Clemens Busch, enthusiasm arises!
