Wine information
The Pünderich site Marienburg Falkenlay - located between Fahrlay and Rothenpfad - is a south-facing vineyard with mainly grey slate. There is quite a lot of weathered rock with limestone components. After harvesting and sorting, the grapes receive a maceration period, they are pressed very slowly with low pressure and fermented spontaneously. Clarification takes place through sedimentation. Apart from small amounts of sulphur, nothing else is added. The wine is matured in traditional Moselle barrels with a capacity of 1,000 litres.
Color
pale straw yellow
Nose
The Marienburg »Falkenlay« 2019 Riesling combines a light warmth with yeast, a little cinnamon, apple and tart apple skin, mustard seed, crushed stone and a little flint, lanolin and citrus notes.
Mouth
On the palate, the Riesling offers a slight extract sweetness at the beginning, but this is quickly captured by an agile acidity. Then it becomes silky, then increasingly chalky and limy. The wine has a good tension, is full-bodied as well as compact. In the finish, it is again provided with a very light fruit sweetness, which combines with tart lime aromas.
