Wine information

The Rosso is the classic and the flagship of Vanni Nizzoli. It is a Lambrusco entirely in the tradition, produced with the local varieties Lambrusco Grasparossa , Malbo Gentile and Marzemino. The vines, which are more than 30 years old, come from clayey soils rich in silica.

After hand harvesting into small crates, the grapes were destemmed and fermented for ten days in old oak and chestnut barrels on the skins. This was followed by ageing in stainless steel for six months. Finally, the wine was fermented in stainless steel on the skins with the juice still unfermented. Then the wine was aged in concrete and stainless steel for six months and on the lees for a year after bottling and second fermentation. There was no fining, no filtering, no added sulphur and no dosage. The total sulphur is less than 10 mg.

Color

Lively purple red with light perlage

Nose

This Lambrusco smells very clearly of the landscape from which it comes. The wine combines a tart dark fruit of blueberries, blackberries and a few sloes with earthy notes and those of moss, dry herbs and stone. This is a wine of rural Italy, a wine from Emilia-Romagna that presents itself here completely unadulterated.

Mouth

This is not only evident in the aroma, but also on the palate; for the Cinque Campi Rosso has zero grams of residual sweetness, is absolutely dry, tart, darkly aromatic and enormously juicy. A mixture of red and dark berries combines here with a tannin that provides plenty of grip, and also with an acidity that offers tension and freshness and is further supported by the light, dancing perlage. This is an inviting contemporary, unpretentious, friendly and ready to accompany any dish that provides enough fat to counter the tart dryness.
