Nose
2019 Langhe Nebbiolo shows the quintessence of the Langhe in a compact form. The parade grape variety Nebbiolo from Barolo and Barbaresco as well as the surrounding villages illustrates its strengths. Rich, dark fruit reminiscent of sweet cherries, as well as raspberry, blackberry and plum. Black pepper, juniper and something contribute plenty of herbal spice. Cedar wood, cigar box and a little cold smoke are perceptible. Dried porcini mushrooms as well as some tree bark and undergrowth set the balsamic final chord.
Palate
On the palate, it absolutely meets the suggested expectations. Present tannin in a somewhat coarser grain and a gripping acid structure meet. The tannin will further integrate and soften with time. The acidity skilfully puts pressure on the fruit and increasingly displaces the tannin. A delicate minerality becomes increasingly noticeable, shows itself earthy and works very well with the tannin. Juicy mouthfeel with many fresh accents. The dark, spicy aromas as well as the dark fruits are recognisable in a similar form and alternate in turn in the finish.
