Wine information
Clos de Beauvenir combines historic plots below the château, facing south-southwest. The loamy sandy soil is strewn with rolling gravel and favours finesse and aromas. The proximity of the estate's spring and the surrounding hundred-year-old trees bring cool nights and thus freshness to the wine. Hand harvesting and grape selection are followed by whole cluster pressing. The Grenache Blanc is fermented in half-barrels, the Roussanne in barriques, one third in new barrels. The ageing on the fine lees takes place for 85% in half-barrels and 15% in new barriques and extends over seven months.
Color
Very light, slightly greenish brilliant gold
Nose
The scent of pears and aniseed dominates the bouquet, but other aromas stand out again and again, such as elderflower, ripe lemons, fresh almonds, spiced bread, beeswax, liquorice, vanilla and a hint of fresh oak, while the impression always remains harmonious and elegant.
Palate
Freshness and roundness fill the mouth at the same time, then the very elegant, complex spice sets in, also here anise, lemon zest, charming peach fruit, liquorice and green tea. Concentration and tension come more and more to the fore with a pronounced minerality that inevitably makes one think of rolling pebbles. Lots of finesse in the very long finish. Excellent ageing potential.
