Wine information
The 2019 Bandol Rosé is a cuvée of 65 % Mourvèdre and 35 % Cinsaut. The vines stand in an "amphitheatre" facing the sea on Triassic clay, limestone and chalk. The Cinsaut was pressed directly, the Mourvèdre bled over a day using the saignée method. The cuvée of both juices was fermented spontaneously over 20 days at 22 °C and then aged for six months in stainless steel.
Color
intense rosé, reminiscent of copper and grapefruit peel
Nose
The Bandol Rosé 2019 smells intense and stimulating of ripe peaches including the peel, freshly cut and mixed with orange slices and red berries. Over this lies a scent of white flowers, a little jasmine, herbs and lime.
Palate
On the palate the Bandol Rosé as intense as the color already suggested. The wine is powerful and juicy with lots of ripe stone fruit, cherries and blood oranges, but also equipped with licorice and a touch of allspice and cardamom. In addition to the juicy ripe acidity, the light tannin and subtle fruit sweetness is captivating, as is the tangy savoury finish. This is not only a true four-season rosé, but an excellent all-rounder in the food accompaniment.
