The exquisite Bandol Rosé of 2020 results from a harmonious blend of 65% Mourvèdre and 35% Cinsault. The grapes thrive in a seaside "amphitheatre" on a geological foundation of clay, limestone and chalk from the Triassic period. The Cinsaut was pressed directly and the Mourvèdre was pressed over one day using the saignée method. The cuvée from these juices fermented spontaneously for 20 days at a comfortable temperature of 22 °C and then matured for six months in stainless steel barrels.
This rosé presents itself in a bright copper with subtle orange accents.
The nose is greeted by an intense wave of different aromas. Here one finds notes of vineyard peach, sweet cherries, apple tart, candied lemon and rosehip jelly, mixed with hints of cinnamon, fragrant flowers and the beguiling scent of freshly baked redcurrant cake. An aromatic symphony that immediately immerses and captivates the senses.
On the palate, the 2021 Bandol Rosé from Château de Pibarnon performs a powerful dance that delights with its brilliant fruit intensity, Mediterranean spice and impressive finish. Its fine tartness in the long finish makes it the perfect, authentic companion to many kinds of food. This rosé sets a new level of quality and experience - and not only for rosés!
Some culinary recommendations that harmonise wonderfully with this wine include goat's cheese with grilled pears and fresh thyme, tarte with anchovies, peppers, tomatoes and rocket salad or an oven-baked sea bass with olive oil, lemon zest and dill.
