Steffen Mugler and Michael Andres stand with their respective wineries for a modern Palatinate wine style. Straightforward, clear and without frills, their wines represent a thoroughly authentic but also affordable Palatinate at the highest qualitative level. With their joint sparkling wine cellar, they take this to the bubbling extreme.
Color
The wine shows itself with vital foam crown and tenderly sparkling carbonic acid in bright white gold with discreet silvery shine in the glass.
Nose
Carried by subtle elegance, the compact aroma of this sparkling wine opens cautiously. Aromas of hay flowers and Greek mountain tea are fruity underpinned by vineyard peach and crisp Nashi pear as well as gooseberry and some kiwi. This is joined by a savoury spice of capers, basil and green almonds.
Palate
The fruit, which is rather restrained and mischievous on the nose, celebrates Venetian masquerade balls on the palate and drops all its covers. Yellow-fleshed and juicy, it prances on the perky sole of a stimulating, yet balanced perlage. Consistently dry and thus mouthwatering in its finish, the 2018 Chardonnay Auxerrois Brut from Andres and Mugler shows itself with cool elegance.
