Info

The Domaine de l'enclos of the brothers Romain and Damien Bouchard was only founded in 2006. Most of the vineyards come from their parents' family estate, which previously operated under the Domaine Pascal Bouchard. Accordingly, they have their own vineyards, which they have also been cultivating organically since 2007. In 2019, a pleasantly relaxed vintage prevailed after the spring frost. Almost boring and without any fungal pressure. This vintage is correspondingly balanced in the glass.

The 0.67ha plot was planted by the grandfather of the Bouchard brothers in 1964. It is located in the historic part of the Grand Cru site Les Clos and faces the town of Chablis, i.e. southwest, and is correspondingly warmer.

Nose

On the nose, it makes an extremely salty impression. Seawater, sea spray and oyster shell cavort around this idea. Some cold smoke and caramel provide toasty aromas that seem perfectly balanced. Hints of cream tarts and apple tart. Plenty of yellow fruit from apricot to mirabelle and a little papaya. Candied orange and lemon zest. Freshly grated ginger sets a clear final chord.

Palate

Acidity and fear are in absolute perfect balance. It makes its way full of pressure. In terms of feel, it offers plenty to chew on. One would say "chewy" in English. A charming melting flattery on the palate. The arc of tension is stretched wide open. The aromas of the nose come to the fore again in a similar form. With a slight ginger spiciness, it leads into an elegant finish. Always supported by a very present minerality.
