Color

The wine presents itself in bright straw gold with light white-golden reflections clear and shiny in the glass.

Nose

Amazingly approachable for its youth, the 2018 Les Clos Grand Cru from Domaine de l'Enclos takes over the room from the glass. Delicate and fragrant, delicate floral aromas of acacia, chamomile and dandelion rise. Honeydew melon, pomelo and khaki bring fruit to the quiet wine that, with time and air, turns its essence inside out. A subtle herbal meadow scent, as well as a hint of wormwood hint at subtle bitterness. The spice of malt and coffee cherries contribute depth and give the picture a fitting frame.

To fully appreciate this wine, it should be opened the day before drinking. The deep aromas of the somewhat heavier grey clay and limestone soil of the over 50-year-old vines from the lower part of the Les Clos site, which overlooks the village of Chablis, just need their time.

They are entitled to it.

Palate

Seated and confident, as well as full of majestic grandeur, the 2018 Les Clos Grand Cru from Romain and Damien Bouchard represents uncompromising power.

Full and powerful, but at the same time as refreshing as delicate, this powerful Chablis appears with a curved foot on the palate. An exciting acid arc and wonderfully sparse minerality give the wine an unexpected coolness despite all its density and concentration. Exciting, courageous and with a discreet, stimulating bitterness, this broad-shouldered Chablis has an extremely distinguished manner.
