Color:
Cherry red, not too dense in colour
Nose:
The Cerasuolo di Vittoria is bright and charming. It invites directly to the first sip with an irresistible mixture of fragrance and fruit. Violets and a hint of anise combine with sour cherry, Amarena cherry, a scattered plum, with laurel and elderberry. Although the fruit of this Nero d' Avola is ripe and lush, it is countered by the fresh juiciness of the frappato, which lifts the black from Avola and makes it light.
Mouth:
Cerasuolo di Vittoria, the only DOCG in Sicily, this cuvee out of Nero d'Avola and Frappato should, in the best case, present a balance of lightness and compact fruit as well as combine drinking pleasure and demand. Manentis Cerasuolo manages this in a playful way. The ripe, juicy cherry and plum fruit almost jumps out of the glass. It is clothed in a slightly grippy but restrained tannin and underpinned by a handful of spices. The decisive factor here is the lively mineral acidity, which gives the wine great drinkability and ensures coolness despite the ripe fruit. This is great fun - especially when served slightly chilled in summer. A wine, by the way, that also harmonizes excellently with Sicilian fish dishes.
