The cru "Teatro", which is only 0.7 hectares in size, opens towards the south like an ancient theater. The rather cool microclimate of the vineyard, whose vines grow at about 500 meters above sea level, makes the wines particularly finesse-rich and complex.
Color
The wine presents itself in a radiant, slightly translucent ruby red with garnet rim clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Spicy with animal tendencies the first startled nose of the wine gives itself. A freshly baked rye bread that just comes out of the oven to then be completed with rendered bacon and roasted onion lard.
More develops in the swirled large glass. Spicy red fruits like wild strawberry, sloe and dried rosehip show up next to scents of rosebush, clove and barley malt as well as the scent of roasted hazelnuts of the very best quality.
The stable is in visible proximity, but its scent is far away.
Palate
With the spiciness with which this wine aromatically appears, the clear juiciness of the 2015 Brunello di Montalcino "Teatro" from Salicutti surprises on the palate. Peppery cherry fruit emerges both bright and knotty, and is carried by a cool and bracing arc of acidity. The wine's tannins are of a slightly rustic nature, but more than coherent in the overall picture. A wine that calls for appropriate food; or a veranda with a view of the vineyards.
Teatro embodies the opposite of Much Ado About Nothing in an enriching glass of wine.
