Wine profile
This noble drop, the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, comes from the renowned vineyards of Podere Brizio, located in the picturesque southwest of Montalcino. The soils on which the vines thrive are a fascinating mix of marl and limestone, complemented by sandy and clayey layers of marine origin. This Brunello, a pure Sangiovese Grosso expression, has been certified organic since 2015. Fermentation was natural, while ageing was classic, over a period of four years in large 5.4-hl Slavonian oak barrels. Its maturation period on the bottle followed.

Visual
The eye is pleasantly caught by a slightly translucent garnet red, interspersed with brick-red reflections.

Aroma
This Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2015 from Podere Brizio presents itself open on the nose, exuding both power and ethereality. It is reminiscent of dried mint, a variety of other herbs, dried violets, undergrowth and a hint of cedar paired with the fruity notes of ripe and slightly crushed wild strawberries. A slight hint of amaro with blood orange peel enriches the bouquet. Through it all, the wine remains transparent, sharp and elegant.

Taste
The elegant clarity continues on the palate. Despite its power and depth, the wine remains ethereal, aromatic and herbal. It benefited from ageing in large barrels. Attention is drawn to the delicacy, a characteristic that makes this Brunello irresistible. It shines with a clean acid structure and polished tannins. Despite its youth, it exudes a silky drinking pleasure that invites enjoyment. With sufficient air, it can unfold its full range of dried cherries, wild strawberries, grilled herbs and flowers.

Food pairings
Roasted wild pigeon with fresh sage, porterhouse steak of Angus beef Florentine style or a hearty white bean soup with Italian fennel sausages provide excellent accompaniments to this exquisite wine.
