Info about the wine
This is the southernmost cru of the Beaujolais. The clay-limestone parcel of "La Pilonière" fell victim to more than 50 % of frost in 2019 and was blended with a second parcel of blue slate. This is the only red wine in the domaine that was de-stemmed to 100 %, but in the "Zen" version, i.e. without sulphur during fermentation and ageing. Only at bottling is a little sulphur added.
Color
Clouded purple
Nose
The seductive fragrance is reminiscent of a whole basket of red and dark fruits such as sour cherries, raspberries, blackberry puree, plums and pomegranate. Finely chiselled, this aroma is infused with orange zest and nectarines, violets and peonies, as well as hints of cocoa, pepper and liquorice.
Palate
The 2019 Brouillly is light on its feet and full of fruit on the palate, its tannin structure is extremely mild, its acidity is delicate and invigorating. A wine that conveys pure drinking pleasure, best served slightly chilled from Burgundy glasses. With such uncomplicated wines, which at the same time have facet and pretension, the wine region Beaujolais is deservedly put in a completely different light.
