Benoit Marguet cultivates only 0.7 hectares in Bouzy. The vines for the Bouzy Grand Cru Extra Brut are grown in the Lieu dits Les loges and Les Hannepés and are fermented individually in wood. The barrels vary from the second to the ninth occupancy.
Since 2010, the plants are ploughed manually by horse. Marguet's champagnes are basically neither enriched nor provided with shipping dosage. He works with minimal intervention, without pumps and with little to no use of sulfur.
The 2015 Bouzy Grand Cru Extra Brut made from 100% Pinot Noir received the tirage on July 13, 2016 and was disgorged in April 2020, adding 30 mg of SO2 and bottled without shipping dosage with 0 grams of residual sugar.

Color:

Old gold with delicate copper reflections and strong perlage.

Nose:

Champagne Marguet's 2015 Bouzy is powerful and demanding on the nose. Walnut pastry and yeast plait as well as toasted Piedmont hazelnuts set the scene, followed by citrusy notes of zest and an oxidized, red-tinged apple. Salted caramel and fresh white mushroom mingle with a delicate smoky note underpinned by herbal notes of borage and a drop of bitter almond oil. A champagne that unmistakably asks for the big glasses, but best of all for five years of bottle maturity.

Mouth:

With a creamy entry and fine bubbly mousseux, the 2015 Bouzy has a richly opulent palate with immediate presence from the first drop. Its fruit shines through the extract and is supported by the delicate phenolic of the Champagne, which gives it a smoky to spicy back-up. Orange blossom water and Darjeeling give this cracking dry wine a fruity tartness, balanced by the extract-rich core and its layered complex and long finish with a spicy warm finish. Not a prissy champagne that nevertheless has the best manners.
