Wine information

There have been discussions for a long time about renaming the vineyard Montre-Cul ; because translated it means as much as »showing«the ass. Apart from that, it is located before Chenôve in Dijon and has been known since the Middle Ages. Of the 3.5 ha of sandy, chalky and limestone soil, Yann Charlopin uses 1.73 ha. Montre-Cul is always the last vineyard to be harvested. After destemming, cool pre-fermentation and spontaneous fermentation, the wine is aged slowly on the fine lees for 16 months in 228-litre barriques with a new wood content of 20 to 30 %.

Color

deep, almost opaque ruby red

Nose

With this Burgundy Rouge you notice very clearly how warm and cool notes meet and complement each other. The wine should be caraffed. Then it shows notes of blond tobacco and dry herbs in combination with juicy cherries and raspberries, mint, violets and some liquorice. Add to this a little sous-bois and crushed stone.

Palate

While the wine seems soft and tart shortly after opening and the acidity is a bit off, after some time in the carafe it finds itself in its youth even now. Then it appears firm and dense with still young, gripping tannins, some foliage and crunchy red berries. The acidity is fresh and lively, the wine seems hedonistic and is sophisticated. There is a lot in it for a Burgundy Rouge.
