Wine information
For this wine, Boris Champy used Pinot Noir from the En Bignon parcel in Bouze le Beaune. The parcel is located at 421 meters above sea level. Its soil is characterized by red loam and calcareous marl. The vineyards were partly planted as early as in the 1980s with a vine density of more than 10,000, partly in Guyot, partly in Lyra training. Boris Champy de-stemmed the grapes, he extracted gently and aged the wine over twelve months in barrels, but a portion of 15 % in new wood.
Color
slightly transparent ruby red
Nose
With Boris Champy's Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Altitude 421 2019 Fragrant dark fruity, sweet and earthy sides of the Pinot Noir show up, which are accompanied by a skilful use of wood. Plums can be found here, as well as notes of black cherries and sweet cherries, red berries and blood oranges, smoke and crushed stone, wood and undergrowth.
Palate
On the palate the Altitude 421 once again more pressure, freshness and brightness than one could expect in the fragrance. Here, the altitude in which the vines are located shows. The acidity seems lively and runs through an elegant body, which is characterized by a juicy ripe dark fruit, a little dark liquid cocoa, a silky tannin and an enthusiastically elegant use of wood. This has immense charm!
