Wine information

For this wine, Boris Champy used Pinot Noir from the Le Clou parcel in Nantoux. The parcel is located at 377 meters above sea level. The soil of the parcel is characterized by white clay and a high percentage of lime marl. All in all, this is a very stony vineyard, which Boris calls his Châteauneuf designated. The vineyards were partly planted as early as in the 1980ies with a vine density of more than 10,000 in Guyot cultivation. Boris Champy has destemmed only a small part of the grapes, most of them are whole grapes. He gently extracted the grapes and vinified the wine for twelve months in barrels, however, a part of 30 % in new wood.

Nose

With Boris Champy's Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Altitude 377 2019 dark and fleshy notes of fresh black fruits like plums and cherries, dark tobacco, bresaola, earth and stone show up from the first moment. In addition, there are warm spices such as cinnamon, dark cocoa and tiger nuts. The Pinot is already underlaid in the fragrance with a cool mineral note.

Palate

On the palate the Altitude 377 powerful and at the same time supple with a noble tannin and an acidity penetrating the black fruit. The dark, crisp but ripe fruit is accompanied on the palate by notes reminiscent of hung, lightly smoked beef. In addition, there are slightly earthy notes and something sous bois. The Pinot Noir still seems immensely young, but is already quite delicious.
