But - and this has to be emphasised with Rémi Jobard - it all shows up discreetly at all times, and it combines on the spot with a pleasant nervousness and liveliness. The acidity seems sleek, slightly punchy and yet silky and charming.

Wine information

Rémi Jobards Bourgogne Côte d'Or »Vieilles Vignes" comes exclusively from vines more than 40 years old from six parcels in Meursault. The indication of origin Burgundy Côte d'Or was introduced with the 2017 vintage and includes vineyards from 40 localities in the two Côtes with vineyards of at least 9,000 vines planted per hectare and a yield per hectare lower than that of the Burgundy AC. The indication of origin includes red as well as white wines.

The Bourgogne Côte d'Or »Vieilles Vignes" is vinified at Rémi Jobard with the same precision as all his wines. This also means that after spontaneous fermentation, the wine sits on its lees for almost two years, in Stockinger barrels and tonneaux.

Nose

As in 2018, the Bourgogne Côte d'Or »Vieilles Vignes" has once again become a wonderfully expressive and present wine in 2019. First of all, there is this kind of reduction that I particularly like - just a hint of bangers and gunpowder, just enough that you notice it, but that it doesn't dominate and thus also has a tiring effect. You have green and yellow apples and green and yellow citrus on the nose, plus a few white flowers, stone and some lightly toasted almonds. This seems brighter and sleeker than 2018, but of course still riper and warmer than 2017.

Palate

On the palate, this wine reveals Meursault from the marginal site has a lot of energy and a very lively acidity. The white-fleshed fruit is juicy and combines with limequats and lemons. The acidity seems sleek, slightly punchy and yet silky and charming. One finds here the virtues of a Meursault. The hedonistic, the soft, and in addition also the beurres et noisettes. But - and this must be emphasised in Rémi Jobard's work - it always shows itself discreetly, and it combines on the spot with a pleasant nervousness and liveliness. The Bourgogne Côte d'Or »Vieilles Vignes" is designed to present all this at a young age. So - fill the glasses!
