The Trapet family has been making wine in Gevrey-Chambertin for six generations. Jean-Louis Trapet took over the reins of the estate from his father in 1992 and took it to new heights in terms of quality. In order to achieve the greatest possible expression of the origin, the yields were reduced and the cultivation was changed. Since 1997, Trapet has been cultivating vines on 14 hectares according to biodynamic guidelines, and in the cellar, too, there is no fining and filtration. The domaine owns vineyards in the best Grand and Premier Crus in Gevrey-Chambertin.
The Bourgogne blanc is a cuvée of two parcels of only 90 ares from the communes of Auvonne and Varangée in Marsannay. Grown on silty, clayey and calcareous soils numerous small stones on the surface that store the heat of the day. Fermented spontaneously and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Color
Bright straw yellow.
Nose
The 2019 Bourgogne blanc from Domaine Trapet is bright and clear on the nose. Pome fruit notes of crisp apples and incisive citrus notes are underpinned by aromas of wet table chalk and young kitchen herbs such as chervil and sorrel. Pure-toned and brilliant, it makes the lips purse and the goblet fill with high frequency.
Mouth
On the palate, the wine presents itself as an isosceles triangle of juiciness, pressure and feel. With good punch on the mid-palate, this simple Bourgogne blanc already shows the direction in which the wines of the domaine are heading Straightforward expression of the origin with the greatest possible transparency and freshness.
