Wine information
For this wine, Boris Champy used Gamay from different old vineyards. Sélections massales. The vines are located in three parcels in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. They were planted very densely with 10,000 vines per hectare in Guyot training. For the Gamay, harvested between 28 August and 4 September, Boris Champy harvested around 60 % whole bunches in Maceration carbonique fermented. The grapes were fermented spontaneously in wooden fermentation racks and the wine was then aged for around twelve months in old vats. Pièce and expanded in the Fuder.

Nose
Boris Champys Côteaux Bourguignons Gamay Fin 2020 gives good Beaujolais Cru a run for its money. It smells intensely of cherries, red plums, cranberries and raspberries with a few dashes of pomegranate and blood orange juice, herbs, yeast and a hint of vanilla.
Palate
On the palate, the Gamay is downright punchy, fresh and juicy with a lively acidity, crunchy fruits, lots of earthy spice, some pepper, wood and a hint of vanilla. The tannins are round as well as silky, but definitely have a few welcome corners. The wine is mouthwateringly mineral, lively, balanced and slightly salty on the finish.
