Wine information
For this wine, Boris Champy used Chardonnay from the Montagne de Cras vineyard in Nantoux. The parcel is located in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune at an altitude of 382 metres. The soils are interspersed with pebbles , limestone, calcareous marl and clay. The four hectares of the vineyard are divided into three hectares of vines and one hectare of compensatory area with boulders, hedges, fruit trees, grassy meadows with numerous orchids and rare tree species. The vines were planted very densely with 10,000 canes per hectare and raised in Guyot and Lyra. The spontaneously fermented wine was aged for twelve months in Pièces aged on the lees with 15 % of new wood and 35 % of second growth with occasional batonnage.

intense straw yellow
Nose
Boris Champys 2020s Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Montagne 382 is elegant and complex with notes of crisp pears, peaches and lemons surrounded by a hint of pop, mint and smoke. The whole is accompanied by a little salty popcorn and by nuts.
Palate
The white wine also presents itself on the palate. Montagne 382 Very clear and juicy with a striking acid structure and a fine concentration in the ripe but crisp bright fruit. The Chardonnay appears elegant and sensual, powerful and mineral with notes of stone and iodine. The wine vibrates on the palate, its terroir expression is deep and concentrated. The last vintage was already good, but this is another step forward.
