Wine information
For this wine, Boris Champy used a vineyard with an old Sélection massale the Aligoté Doré as well as the Golden Aligoté. The name, by the way, refers to the colour of the berries. The plots are located in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune at an altitude of over 400 metres. The soils are interspersed with lime, calcareous marl and clay. The vines were planted very densely with 10,000 vines per hectare and raised in Guyot and Lyra. They were the last to be harvested on 12 and 13 September - ten days after the Hautes Côtes vines. The spontaneously fermented wine was aged for twelve months at 70 % in used Pièces on the yeast and aged to 30 % in stainless steel.
Color
Straw yellow with green reflections
Nose
Boris Champys Burgundy Aligoté Doré 2020 is of a clear and transparent nature. It smells of Meyer lemons and hay, wax and ripe apple, some peach and salt. The wine is bright and fresh.
Palate
On the palate the Aligoté is clearly clearer and punchier than the year before. It is a linear wine with a pulsating, electrifying acidity. It appears exceedingly fresh and clear with crisp notes of gooseberries, green and yellow citrus fruits as well as green apples and plums. There is also a clear iodine note in the finish. The Bourgogne Aligoté Prances agilely on the tongue, has not a gram of fat too much and remains very athletic until the finale.
