Wine information
The Le Jour is a Champagne from 100 % Pinot Meunier. The fruit comes from the Premier Cru single vineyard "Le Jour" in Vrigny. The vines, planted in 1971, stand on a clay-silt soil with a limestone subsoil. The base wine from the Cœur de Cuvée was fermented spontaneously and aged for nine months in four-year-old 228- and 400-litre barrels. Biological acid reduction took place. The wine was not sulphurised, but was vinified as a Brut Nature Disgorged. This bottle was filled 05/2019 and disgorged 03/2021.

Straw yellow with fine perlage
Nose
The Le Jour, a Champagne made from Pinot Meunier, shows a deep sensuality and inviting aromatics from the first moment, combining white-fleshed ripe fruit and yellow kiwi with cool stone and tart herbs. Overlying this is a scent of pastry with creamy lemon, a little caramel and black berries.
Palate
The sensual impression of this wine continues on the palate. Champagne's continued. Although as Non-Dosé When degorged, there is a fine sweetness of ripe fruit in this Champagne. White-fleshed stone fruit and pome fruit show here, as well as a few shreds of lemon, plus nuts and a little celery, blond tobacco and rock. The Champagne appears very open and inviting due to the absence of sulphur. The mouthfeel is silky, the acidity rather discreet. On the other hand, there is a wonderfully lively minerality with a fine saltiness that accompanies the fruit into the finish.
