Tasting note from from 30.12.2020, Copyright Peter Müller
With the Michlits family, biodynamics is a lived theme through and through. While one brother cultivates fruit, grain and vegetables, the second accompanies a herd of no less than 900 Angus cattle through their lives, Werner Michlits has devoted himself entirely to the vines. In the never-ending cycle of nature, everything finds its significance here in Pamhagen, directly on the Hungarian border with Austria.

Color

The wine shows a dark garnet red with a slightly lightening rim and a violet core.

Nose

An initially purely berry-dominated impression is playfully ensnared by spicy components after swirling the glass. Mieze Schindler strawberries, rosehip (as tea), elderberries and black cherries meet the finely woven aroma carpet of a gingerbread spice. Allspice, cloves, cinnamon stick, mace and star anise join hands to create a dense whole together with ethereal notes of blood orange and the nutty scent of dry autumn leaves.

Palate

Driven by dark berry fruit opulence, the 2019 Blaufränkisch from Meinklang breaks cover and wants nothing more than to be drunk. A freshness-giving, taut, yet superbly integrated acidic arc gives this punchy middleweight pure drinking pleasure along the way. The, pleasantly fitting, rougher yet ripe tannin has grip and makes this no-frills Blaufränkisch a true Burgenländer that invites you to snack. And if it gets a little louder at the regulars' table, then only due to exuberant merriment.
