In order not to squander the qualities achieved on the way to the winery, the grapes are harvested by hand by their own team. The vinification is done exclusively with their own wild yeasts and with the same passion and dedication as at their own winery La Soufrandière in Macon. The ripe and almost dried strawberry fruit is spicily underpinned by black pepper, sandalwood and delicately smoky notes.

Bret Brothers is the name of the micro-Negoce winery of Jean-Guillaume and Jean Philipe Bret. Founded in 2001, the aim of the Brett brothers was to produce terroir-driven wines from southern Burgundy and Beaujolais.

To achieve this, the Bret Brothers work with an exquisite selection of the finest terroirs with vines with an average age of a good 40 years. Since 2019, the grapes for the wines have all come from certified organic cultivation. In order not to squander the qualities achieved on the way to the winery, the grapes are harvested by hand by their own team, The vinification is carried out exclusively with their own wild yeasts and with the same passion and dedication as at their own winery La Soufrandière in Macon. In 2013, the range was expanded to include Beaujolais from Brouilly, Lantignié, Chénas and Juliénas. The Bret Brothers, who have been certified organic since 2006, offer a total of 15 cuvées. The micro-cuvées have very small runs of 900-4000 bottles per wine and vintage.

Fermentation takes place in used barriques or large tanks, depending on the location.

Color

Dark ruby red with a transparent edge.

Nose

The 2013 Bien-Venu in X-tremis Beaujolais-Leynes from the Bret Brothers smells on the nose like a ripe Beaujolais should. The ripe and almost dried strawberry fruit is spicily underpinned by black pepper, sandalwood and delicately smoky notes. Above all this beauty lurks the famous cola bottle of fruit gum.

Mouth

The nose oscillates between silky feel and mellow fruit and is carried by the leafy tannin. The overall appearance on the palate is a fine-grained and primarily haptic-structural experience until the ripe fruit reveals itself on the palate. Outlined by mild spicy notes such as mace and sumac, the acidity is finely woven and balances the extract-rich nature of this light-footed Gamay, whose fine maturity unmistakably invites it to the table.
