Info about the wine

Hohen-Sülzen lies in the so-called Eisbach Valley. And as the name suggests, the cold low mountain stream that rises in the Donnersberg massif exerts a considerable influence on the cooler nights. The difference between day and night temperatures is higher in Hohen-Sülzen than in the other districts. The wines from the Hohen-Sülzer sites are a tribute to the Wonnegau home of H.O. Spanier. The Pliocene soils are extremely calcareous and the daytime temperatures are always a little higher than in the vineyards in Mölsheim or Flörsheim due to the Hohen-Sülzer Kesselllage..

Info about the expansion

Strictest selection, old vines and spontaneous fermentation. The white wines are largely matured in old barrels, the Pinot Blanc in French tonneaux, and remain on the fine lees until the middle of the year.

Color

Iridescent and intense golden yellow.

Nose

The 2020 Hohensülzen Pinot Blanc Old Vines is a coherent and complex wine with beautiful charisma. Already on the nose, the aromas intertwine perfectly, chalky intensity mixes with fine quince and pear fruit as well as citrus and a fine and unobtrusive toasty note. The more oxygen it receives, the juicier the extremely animating nose becomes.

Palate

Juicy, creamy with lots of yellow fruit and spice, it moves across the tongue. The mid-palate is intense and grabs hold with a fine tannin structure, it shows a complex and invigorating fullness with lots of finesse, stimulating acidity and terrific length. A wine that serves food and gives pleasure in the glass with every sip.

Decant if possible and enjoy not too cold from large glasses.
