Info about the wine
This wine was originally conceived in 2005, ideally as a wedding wine for Carolin and H.O.Spanier. However, it quickly secured a place among the country's top Rieslings, and so it developed into a series.
The CO is vinified from a single vine selection and comes from the rockiest and oldest lots of the Frauenberg and the Zellerweg Am Schwarzen Herrgott. The best canes are marked year after year and harvested only at the end of the harvest.
A monolith from which time must first carve the sculpture. You think you can taste the pure stone, which is the reason for the name "Liquid Earth by H.O.".
Info about the expansion
The grapes are strictly selected, hand-picked, spontaneously fermented and matured in half-barrels. The Riesling CO goes on sale at the earliest after five years of storage in Carolin and Oliver's maturation cellar. Very limited!
Color
Radiant golden yellow
Nose
What a fragrance, direct, stony notes, smokiness, power, fruit, one looks in vain at first, then after 3 days of opening, pure citrus and orange fruit, ginger, a monument of a wine, full of intensity and great radiance. With oxygen, which it absolutely demands, passion fruit, juicy orange flesh, vanilla and white chocolate come out, some green tea and noble light tobacco, what a facet, what an expression.
Palate
Dense and powerful, the 2016 Riesling C.O. XVI Liquid Earth floods the palate. Its immense fullness is accompanied by salty intensity and vibrating acidity, fine tannins - all wonderfully framed by exuberant minerality. A Riesling that grabs you and doesn't let go. Powerful, complex, beautiful, lively and precise. It seems youthful, still unfinished and promises great ageing potential. A real monument! Great wine culture!
Decant absolutely and enjoy not too cold from large glasses.
