One look in the glass and you are greeted by an intense garnet red that seems to brighten with purple reflections and subtle gradients.

Aroma
A powerful fragrance escapes, seducing the senses. The 2017 Barolo Mosconi from Chiara Boschis & E. Pira & Figli defines a pleasant interplay of tobacco, wood smoke, cinnamon, cardamom and freshly ground black pepper. Wild raspberries, black cherries, dates and figs create a fruity note, while noble dark chocolate, liquorice and light Assam tea create an incomparable depth. Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary and thyme turn this drop into a refreshing palate adventure.

Taste
This Barolo attacks the palate with an explosion of dark fruit, joined by blackberries, plums and sloe, packed with ripe, youthful tannin and bracing acidity. A well-rounded wine with tremendous ageing potential that will reveal its full glory over the years.

Advice
Those who want to enjoy this liquid of youth should decant it at least two to three hours beforehand and present it in a large Burgundy glass.

Alternative food recommendations
Crispy pizzette with fresh figs, green asparagus and Taleggio. For more refinement, you can also go for a beef roll roast stuffed with morels and celery in a Barolo sauce. For a more rustic option, try a wild boar stew with mostarda and polenta.
