Out of stock

In the exciting interplay of invigorating acidity and vitality, as well as pleasantly caressing fruit melt and fullness, the wine casts its spell. The dark fruit of blueberry, sloe and blackberry, as well as the aroma of a distillate of Cornell cherry almost allow a meeting at eye level with the spicy notes, such as grilled red pointed peppers, beetroot and blue cabbage.

Tasting note from dated Feb 12, 2019 copyright Peter Mueller

Color

Dark purple with a brick-coloured rim and an opaque core, the wine appears clear and shiny in the glass.

Nose

With all the spiciness that this deep Nebbiolo shows from the first moment, it is surprisingly floral at the same time.

The dark fruit of blueberry, sloe and blackberry, as well as the aroma of a distillate of Cornell cherry almost allows a meeting at eye level with the spicy notes, such as grilled red pointed peppers, beetroot and blue cabbage. Hibiscus flowers, as well as those of apple, orange and lime let its fragrant floral character shine. Red pepper, roasted chestnuts and macadamia drop the wine into a frenzy of constant change. A little impetuous at first, everything finds itself with time. It is advisable to open the wine a few hours before enjoying it.

Palate

The 2014 Barolo Mosconi from Pira & Figli takes over the palate in no time. Its sturdy tannin seems downright fleshy and, discreetly drying out, lines the entire mouth. In the exciting interplay of invigorating acidity and vitality, as well as pleasantly caressing fruit melt and fullness, the wine casts its spell. At the same time, however, it also demands equal contra with its density and strength of character.

Food recommendations from Peter Müller

  • Roasted porcini mushrooms with savory, caramelized salt butter and fruity chili
  • Baked oxtail pralines with Beluga lentils, balsamic jus and grilled leeks
  • Grilled monkfish and pork belly with chorizo and okra
