Color
Ruby red with violet reflections.
Nose
Lavish with a full basket of fruit and spice notes like an oriental bazaar, the 2018 Barbera d'Alba Superiore from Chiara Boschis, E. Pira & Figli shows. Dark stone fruits like amarena cherries and berry fruits like blackberries and mulberries outline the nose, with some rum pot and dried fruit shimmering in the top notes like hot air over summer asphalt. Mild spicy notes of cloves and allspice pepper the fruity melange.
Mouth
Super juicy and expansive on the nose with warm richness. The ripe and polished tannins underlie the lush fruit with fine-grained tannin that guides it sure-footedly across the palate. Noble bitterness contours its flow and steers it straight into safe waters. Fruit and power bundle its powerful overall appearance and reflect the aromas of the nose also on the palate. As a Superiore, it has the obligatory extra % for the boom, which prepares it excellently for its appearance at table.
