Color
Muted violet-red, colour-dense to the rim, black at the core.
Nose
The 2017 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Veccia Scarrone is a youthfully beguiling and pleasingly opulent drop that boasts plenty of dark fruit like blackberries, elderberries and dark plum jam. Smoky, bacony and distinctive, earthy and mineral notes of graphite, tobacco, freshly ground pepper join in and the charming spicy notes of clove and liquorice are already apparent, which will become even more prominent with further maturation.
Palate
On the tongue, it seems to explode with this pronounced fruit and the mineral freshness, the acidity extremely stimulating, the tannin polished and the reverberation more than animating for another sip. The higher alcohol moves in the perception completely into the background and in his whole this Barbera seems clearly slimmer and exceedingly filigree. This bottle empties faster than you can look, but at the same time it has a very good storage potential for another decade. Tasty Italian classics on the table - and moments of happiness are pre-programmed.
