Color:
Purple red with violet reflections.
Nose:
The nose of the 2015 Astérolide from Domaine Roc des Anges reflects the characteristics of the Mouvédre like a picture book: fleshy and hearty, its dark spice hovers over the distinctive fruit. Blackberries and dried plums provide depth alongside accents of mild spices such as cloves and black pepper.
Mouth:
On the palate, the 100% Mouvédre from red clay and limestone soils is stout with a clear, fruit-driven mouthfeel. Juicy with fine, chalky minerality and ethereal top notes, it has the tannins typical of Mouvédre, but in this case youthful, almost velvet-pawed. With delicate spice and finely chiselled acidity it goes into the fruity cool finish.
Food recommendations by Sebastian Bordthäuser:
- Beetroot salad with spring leek, walnuts, raspberry vinegar and grape seed oil
(Vegetables & Vegetarian, Salads, Beetroot)
- Parmigiana vegetable casserole
(Cheese, Vegetables & Vegetarian, Matured sheep's cheese)
- Pasta all'Amatriciana (bacon, tomatoes, pecorino and peperocini)
