Color:

Dark purple with clear violet reflections.

Nose:

The 2016 Arbossar impresses with lots of refreshing dark fruit as well as dark flowers and leaves, which remind of violets, violet pastilles, cassis leaf and beetroot. Blueberries, elderberries, sour cherries and sloe are clearly joined by rosemary, juniper and aromas of candied black olives. These flavors are carried by the black licorella slate and a distinctive use of wood that matches the richness of the wine. 100 percent Cariñena still youthful and impetuous, but with promising maturation potential.

Palate:

On the tongue, the 2016 Arbossar unfolds powerfully with lots of fruit and herbal spice. The tannins are still youthful, but super fine-grained. The impression is that the black slate immediately lays itself on our tongues paired with salty minerality. One is immediately transported to the rough, rugged and at the same time impressively beautiful landscape of the Priorat. Impressive, however, is also a certain gentleness that reveals itself on the palate after sufficient aeration and ends in a pleasantly demanding finish. An impressive wine that can still mature decades to reveal itself after a few years with elegance and Burgundian finesse.

Recommendation:

If you want to enjoy it at this stage, you should decant it and serve it in a large glass.
