Info
2020 Vinhao tinto is 100% made from the autochthonous Vinhao grape variety. The grapes are grown organically and harvested by hand. The must is treated in the classic way in Lagares, the ancient granite vats, and tamped down with the feet. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with natural yeasts.
Color
Dark cherry red, with slight cloudiness and violet reflections
Nose
The nose reveals clear accents of reduction. As a result, it appears enormously slender and bristles with finesse. The delicate 11.5 % vol. did not suggest otherwise. The rough, Atlantic climate also clearly comes to the fore. It seems like a red wine far away from warmth, fruit and concentration. In a pleasantly cool way, it presents us with sour cherry, raspberry and cassis. Never overloaded, not even slightly overripe. The fruit is contrasted by plenty of spray, oyster shell and a little fresh seaweed. Fresh herbs provide ethereal accents, while black olives provide dark, warm moments. The use of a narrow decanter certainly helps to reveal the fruit more quickly.
Palate
It develops its true strength when served slightly chilled, i.e. at around 12-13°C. 2020 Vinhao has an enormous amount of slender, cool and racy character traits. The fruit seems to be wrapped in silk. Enormously elegant and delicate. Its cool nuances provide freshness and a good drinking flow. It literally prances across the palate. Playful and delicate. With its juicy, acidic character, it won't leave a glass full for long. The fruit in the finish is enormously characterised by a beautiful sour cherry.
