When Jean-Louis married Andrée, a native of Alsace, the Alsace vineyards and the branch in Riquewihr were part of the marriage. Since Andrée, as a winemaker's daughter, is equally attached to the soil of her homeland, there was no either/or, but only a both/and. Thus, the Domaine Trapet was born out of the Domaine of Jean-Pierre and Hélène Graye and since then has offered the Trapets the rare opportunity to work with two different historical terroirs. The land is cultivated according to biodynamic guidelines.

The grapes for the Ambre Rouge Pinots Macéré sur B.B.H.M come from Beblemheim and were macerated on the skins for one month. Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris form the foundation of this wine, which is then further vinified like a red wine. The grapes come from a total of four plots from 80 ares, the total production of the Macéré series is a slim 2000 bottles.

Transparent ruby red with garnet reflections.

Nose

The nose of the 2020 Ambre Rouge Pinots Macéré sur B.B.H.M from Domaine Trapet is studded with a potpourri of red fruits red currants, wild strawberries and cherries are complemented by subtly spicy notes of elderberries and rose hips. Mace, allspice, sandalwood and cloves contour the juicy, joyful entry with a pointed pencil.

Mouth

With juicy, tart fruit and almost lavish extract sweetness, it is almost humorous on the nose, so cheeky and cheerful does the rich berry fruit spill out of the goblet. On the palate, it has juice and power and shines with decent phenolic traction and gently pulsating bass in the finish. With small-particle tannin on the tongue, it flows best slightly chilled towards its destination.
